Ignore the pollsters. Ignore the pundits. They know nothing.

In election season, you can tell exactly what is going on by following one simple rule.

  • Forget the pollsters.  They haven’t produced reliable results for almost a full generation.
  • Ignore the pundits.  They only repeat what others are saying on K street.
  • Ignore what the candidates say.  More often than not, the truth is the opposite of what the candidates and their people say.

If you want to know what is really happening, it is simple.  Just watch what the candidates do.  Watch where they advertise.  Watch where they campaign.

I am in a solid red Midwestern state.  There should be no reason for Trump to be advertising here.  If he can’t win here n a landslide, he can’t win, period.  A few weeks ago, I noticed a bunch of anti-Haley ads appearing on the basketball broadcasts.  That made no sense because the primary is not until May.  I assumed it must have been some of DeSantis’ idiots wasting their campaign money, or maybe Ramensmarmy spending his collection of other-people’s-money.

But today, there are TWICE as many ads running. And even though they are from some faceless PAC, they are attack ads against specific candidates, which is supposedly illegal.  But now, that same PAC is running ads of virtually the same format against DeSantis while they continue to run the anti-Haley ads.

Therefore, these must be coming from a Trump PAC.  So, tell me why Trump is willing to spend so much money on ads against his two remaining rivals in a state that the pundits tell us won’t make any difference because Trump has such a runaway lead?

Maybe Trump’s PAC has money to burn.  That seems unlikely with all his legal expenses.  The simplest explanation is that Trump has reason to believe one of those two could come out of IA or NH with a surprise victory, and this could steamroll to the point that Trump will need every deep red state he can get.

There are exactly zero pundits and pollsters who would say that is a possibility.  It does seem unlikely, but keep an eye on what Trump does.  The punditocracy may be missing the story here.
