Ok, obviously Trump would be in a better place today if:
- He was not a lifelong criminal
- His only passion in life was not named “Donald”
- He hadn’t stolen classified documents and traded them for money, favors or whatever
- He had never met Stormy Daniels
But those things are who he is. He can no more change those things than he can pass his own college exams.
For the purpose of this poll, I want to look at the biggest decision he made recently. He decided to ditch Mike Pence, actually try to get him assassinated. Pence is anathema to the things most of us believe, but at least he had a baseline of temperament, respect for the law, and basic civility where most people would not see him as an existential threat to our country. Instead, Trump picked Vance. Vance is not the singular reason Trump’s campaign is in such a bad way, but I think Trump could have made better choices.
So in this poll, the question is, what VP candidate choice would have put Trump in a more tenable position at this stage? I hope to see the reasoning explained in the comments. Please note, I am asking which VP would give Trump the best chances to win, not which VP we would find least repulsive.
