I went to lunch today at a little restaurant in a cheesy strip mall. As usual, I was wearing one of my “Childless Cat Daddy” shirts. It is sort of secret code. The MAGA people are clueless. They have no idea what it is saying about them. But our people do. Every day, 2 or 3 strangers come up to me and say “I Love that shirt”.
As I approached the restaurant, I saw that next door, there is a pop-up Trump campaign office. That seems really peculiar because this is in a super-Red county in a solidly red state. That office wasn’t there 2 weeks ago. Why would they decide to spend this money 3 weeks from the election after voting had already started?
I’m sitting at my table thinking, “I really can’t let this opportunity slip away. So as I left the restaurant, I quietly and politely slipped into the MAGA office. There was a 70ish lady at the front table. She looked like the usual MAGA rally type. There were two dimwit-looking men listening to her go on about “Democrats this and Democrats that ...”. I didn’t see anything that suggested any real organization. I didn’t see any door-knocking lists or anything like that. All I saw were piles and piles of yard signs.
After 3 or 4 minutes, one of the two dimwits left and the other wasn’t saying much, so I stepped up to the table. The woman gave me a bit of a puzzled look because I don’t really look like a MAGA person. “May I help you?”
“Yes, I hope so. I understand Elon Musk is paying for votes. Is this where I sign up for that?”
Now they are both just giving me a blind stare. Finally, “You say Elon Musk is paying? I don’t know anything about that. Is that real?”
“Oh yes, he’s paying a million dollars. He has already paid 3 people a million dollars each. I just want to know where to sign up.”
Crickets. They both just stared at me. Obviously their daily dose of Newsmax or Fox didn’t prepare them for this. I let them stare for a minute and then said, “OK. I guess this isn’t the right place. I could really use the money.” And I walked out.
This probably won’t make any difference in the long run, but these ignorant people deserve to be f***ed with. If they want to support these Nazis, the least they could do is stay informed about what their own campaign is doing.
